Outdoor TV Weatherproofing Checklist Before Winter Hits

Outdoor TV Weatherproofing Checklist Before Winter Hits

Published: October 14, 2025

Whether you're keeping your outdoor TV running through the colder months or prepping it for a season of lighter use, a few simple checks in October can save you a headache once winter weather actually arrives.

Check the Operating Temperature Rating

Not every outdoor TV is built for extreme cold. Check your model's rated operating temperature - many of our All Season TVs and MirageVision models are rated as low as -22°F to -40°F, but it's worth confirming before the first freeze hits your area.

Inspect Mounts and Seals

Give your mount hardware a once-over to check for any looseness from a season of heat expansion and contraction. Also inspect port covers and seals on the TV itself to make sure nothing has degraded from UV exposure over the summer months.

Cover Up During Extended Downtime

If you know you won't be using your outdoor TV much through the coldest stretch of winter, a quality TV cover adds an extra layer of protection against snow, ice, and freezing rain, and can extend the life of the unit.

Surge Protection Matters More in Winter

Winter storms often bring power surges along with wind and snow. Make sure you're using an outdoor-rated surge protector to protect your investment through storm season.
